    A follow-up to Glen Tepke's post from yesterday . . . I was at
Temescal very early and had a Lincoln's Sparrow in the willows along
the trail opposite the beach. I also saw a Belted Kingfisher. It flew
out with the Green Heron. Pat Bacchetti, who birds the lake
frequently, tells me that the kingfisher is unusual for this spot.

Note that the trail mentioned above, a good place to look for
warblers, is closed Monday through Friday until the EBRPD completes
construction at the north end of the lake.

Re: Joaquin Miller. I was at the park yesterday for barely an hour,
and in a fraction of that time three cars were broken into in the
small parking area just off Skyline and in the lot across Skyline,
despite the comings-and-goings of cyclists, hikers, and those
attending an equestrian event at the arena. A sign posted in one of
the lots warns park users to leave nothing of value in their
vehicles. I was lucky, as my scope was in the car, though hidden.
This has been a problem in the past and seems to be problem yet again.
