Summer camp sightings for the past few days included the first returning
Greater Yellowlegs (3) and Whimbrel on Wednesday at Albany, the continuing,
slightly oiled Common Loon in the Berkeley Marina harbor, a Pelagic Cormorant off of
the northern breakwater, and returning Semipalmated Plovers and a single
Long-billed Dowitcher on the mudflats south of University.
In Tilden today, we had a brief visit from an Olive-sided Flycatcher on the
north side of Vollmer Peak, a flyby Ash-throat on the south side, and the first
Hermit Warbler of the season, a first year male in the ridge top pines along
the park/watershed boundary north of the peak.
