Today I decided to take a short trip to this park to do a little bird
watching before the US and Canada hockey game started. It has been a few
weeks since I have been to Shadow Cliffs and let me alert you that if you
plan to go in the near future, most of the smaller lakes are flooded and
many of the walking paths are under water to deep to walk through.

I did manage to see some birds most of which were the usual suspects, but
there are a lot of Tree Swallows there now which were not there the last
time I visited. I think the best bird I saw today was a California Thrasher
up in a bare tree which posed for the ten minutes I looked at it and was
still posing when I decided to move on. You could really see his curved
beak good. Also a fair amount of Flickers which are always fun to see. Of
the birds I did observe I can honestly say that all are in spring colors and
really pretty at this time of the year.
