As "winter" in California progresses, the Yellow-rumped Warbler returns in huge numbers. With their call, they often overwhelm the Anna's we commonly hear on a walk through trees.

Yellow-rumps are particularly attracted to the Australian trees and shrubs that begin to bloom now. You can hear them fill a blooming Blue Eucalyptus. They're busy gleaning insects.

Here is one posing momentarily in another Australian import, a Bottle-brush, at Oyster Bay in San Leandro (along the nature trail).

Anna's, Towhees, and Bushtits also flew in and out.
