    Hi birders,

I spent several hours birding in eastern Alameda Co. today. I started out
looking for raptors in rural Livermore, north of I-580 and east of N.
Livermore Ave. In the fields around Raymond, Dagnino, and May School roads, I
had three GOLDEN-EAGLES, a FERRUGINOUS HAWK, WHITE-TAILED KITE, and several
each of the expected RED-TAILS and AM. KESTRELS. The most surprising
sighting was two adult BALD EAGLES soaring over the landfill due west of the
Brushy Peak RP staging area. Interestingly, this spot is in an almost direct
line between and equidistant from Lake Del Valle (where BAEAs are
resident/breed) and Los Vaqueros Reservoir (where they winter).

I hiked the West Side Loop Trail at Brushy Peak, and added SHARP-SHINNED
HAWK to the raptor list, but I did not have any luck finding a hoped-for
Prairie Falcon. There was a flock of about 25 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS flying
around the peak. About a mile from the staging area, at the junction of the
West Side and Brushy Peak Loop Trails, I saw two LEWIS?S WOODPECKERS and a
    ROCK WREN.

    Good birding,
