[EBB Sightings] Common Poorwill Mines Road

Last night Judith Dunham and I went to Mines Road for night birds. At MM 5.91, we had a persistently calling Common Poorwill down in the canyon on the south side of the road. This was at 9:50 PM, on a cool, clear, and well-lit night. We started listening and playing calls from MM 10 to 5.91, pulling over at all of the turnouts. 

We also located 2 Western Screech Owls at MM 18.6, above a large grassy pasture. There were also about 30 Violet-green Swallows feeding above and on the pasture, whizzing around our heads as we listened to the owls. 

Interestingly enough, we didn't hear or see a single Great Horned Owl.
