This morning I walked about 2 miles up Mitchell Canyon, and back.
All 3 VIREOS were seen with Warbling and Cassin's singing. Both of the
Hutton's I saw were silent. A good smattering of winter birds were
still evident with YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS, HERMIT THRUSHES, and both
GOLDEN and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS common. A flock of CEDAR WAXWINGS
was feeding on mistletoe berries. ORANGE-CROWNED and WILSON'S WARBLERS
were very vocal and I caught a glimpse of 1 BULLOCK'S ORIOLE. I
thought I had struck out on more interesting warblers until almost 11
o'clock when I came across an oak with 2 male TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS and
1 male HERMIT WARBLER, all singing. Did not hear or see any Black-
throated Gray Warblers or flycatchers. The WRENTITS are so busy , they
    forget to be stealthy.
If nothing else, go to see the Golden Globe Lilies or Golden Fairy
Lanterns. They are at their peak right now and Mt. Diablo is the only
place you can see them. There were many along the trail along with
Chinese Houses, Blue Dicks, Delphineums, etc.
