This morning (Friday) at 9 AM, a Pileated Woodpecker called loudly from
the pine trees at the parking area at Valle Vista, Upper San Leandro
Reservoir, Moraga. It then settled all ID second-guessing by flying west
toward the area where Denise Wight described seeing a Pileated a few
days ago, near the intersection of Canyon Road and Pinehurst Road.

It called again loudly about 10:45 from the pine trees between the
    parking lot and the bridge.

In 20 years of birding Valle Vista, I had never before heard or seen a
    Pileated there.

On Wednesday morning, I saw the Mute Swan over and on the lake, along
with a Caspian Tern. Three male Wood Ducks were seen both mornings
    upstream from the bridge.
