    Birders:

The male Tufted Duck was seen this morning (Sat. Feb 9th) at Lake
Merritt in with the Scaup flock and other ducks down by the Children's
Fairyland in close. His tuft is quite apparent now. After NOT finding
the White-throated Sparrow at Garin Reg. Pk, my husband and I drove to
the little neighborhood marsh in Livermore at the corner of Aims and
Dalton (off North Vasco Rd). We were rewarded with a nice pair of
Blue-wing Teal (and a pair of Cinnamon Teal) along with at least 2-3
Tri-colored Blackbirds among the flock of Red-wings. Following Kathy
Robertson's directions to Hartford/Lorraine rds off of N. Livermore Rd.,
we finally saw one Short-eared Owl at 6 p.m. tonight. It was all the
way back in the south field flying north and a bit east, eventually
flying parallel to Lorraine Road going north past the corner.

    Good Birding!
