[EBB Sightings] Winton Warning

Hi, all.
   Yesterday afternoon, 3 cars were broken into at the
end of Winton in Hayward. It was around 4:00 or so and
windows on all 3 cars were smashed to gain entry. (I'm
thankful mine wasn't one of them.) Purses (hidden
under the seat, I'm told), cell phones and other stuff
were taken. Park personnel said they saw a guy
speeding away and put 2 and 2 together. The driver was
a Hispanic male in a dark sedan, the make of which has
just slipped my mind. 
    Cars in both the Hayward Regional Shoreline
parking lot and the area by the entrance (where the
tropical kingbird has been) were broken into.
Something to note: if your car is broken into in the
shoreline parking lot, ie past the gate, the Regional
Park police will handle the call; if you parked
outside, by the building and the channel, the City of
Hayward police are responsible.
    So be forewarned--and make sure anything that
might even possibly look desireable is well hidden in
your car.
    
    The kingbird did finally show up (this was my
third try)--right when there was a lot of human
activity dealing with the cars, but didn't stay long.
He sat on the wire long enough for a fairly decent
look, then flew off toward the trees by the warehouse
parking. 
    Among others seen:
red-tailed hawk sitting placidly on a post by the
channel
peregrine falcon on big power line tower--north of
where Winton turns to the south
merlin (possible--the light was low; ranger said there
was one in the vicinity)
white-tailed kite
black phoebe
yellow-rumped warbler, 
California towhee
bushtit
mallard
northern shoveler
American wigeon
northern pintail
stilt
and a few others.
