    Hi birders,

This afternoon, while birding on my lunch hour, I found a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW at the Lake Chabot Marina (accessed from L. Chabot Rd. in Castro
Valley). The bird was on the lawn south of the snack bar, near the wooden fence,
with a large flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows. When I came back by later, they
had moved elsewhere. So just look for the GCSPs, who are usually found in
the general vicinity of the wooden foot-bridge and the adjacent picnic areas.

Also of interest: A park employee told me that a few days ago he saw an
"all-white bird" that was foraging on the ground with the other birds (sparrows,
juncos??). He said it was a little bigger than the other birds, but he
couldn't tell me if it was pure snow white or had some other color on it. My
first thought was an albino or leucistic bird, but I must admit Snow Bunting (it
IS the perfect time of year) also crossed my mind. So any of you looking
for the WTSP, keep an eye out for a white bird. (Of course, anything that
stands out like that is a target for the nasty feral cats who frequent the area.)

    Good birding,
