Today while working in the Altamont Hills, approx. 1 mile south of
Altamont Pass and 0.25-0.5 mile east of North Flynn Road, I observed a
flock of at least 15 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS perching and foraging around an
old cattle pen and nearby fencelines. Unfortunately this location isn't
accessible to the public, but I thought it would be of interest to
those who follow the wintering distribution of this species in the Bay
Area. Also of interest was a single BURROWING OWL on an east-facing
slope in the same general area. Curiously, I didn't see a single
    Red-tailed Hawk all day.
