    Folks:

Yesterday, 4/5/07, I did some birding in Contra Costa County, before
giving a presentation to the Mt. Diablo Audubon Society in the
evening. I walked a ways up Mitchell Canyon in the morning and found
the typical mixture of early April returning birds and remaining
winterers. A singing male BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER seemed
slightly early to me, but I note one was found in Pine Canyon on the
much earlier date of 23 Mar. Later in the day, at McNabney Marsh,
there was GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE grazing with the resident
Canadas on the east side. Also on the east side, there was a
convention of the local GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES and I counted 13
together beside the road. I estimated about 17 for the marsh.

    Bill
