Several friends and I enjoyed a birdwalk at Tilden this morning. Our
goal was to see lots of Varied Thrush and we were not disappointed as
they were plentiful and quite beautiful. Other birds of note were
three lovely pairs of Ring-necked Ducks on Jewel Lake who swam so
close to us that with binoculars we were actually able to clearly see
the maroon-colored "ring" on their necks. There were also three
pairs of Bufflehead on the lake and a Belted Kingfisher in
residence. In addition, during our walk we had the pleasure of
several Fox Sparrows doing the "fox trot" and Spotted Towhees doing
    the "Towhee two step!"

    Best birding to you all,
