    Hello East Bay Birders,

This morning at 8:00 am, there was a female Barrow's
Goldeneye on the Moraga Golf Course pond. She, and a
female Common Goldeneye were among the sixty-plus
Ring-necked Ducks and other species that are commonly
    seen there.

This pond is next to the golf course parking lot at
the northwest corner of Moraga Way and Camino Ricardo
about half a mile north from the "T" intersection of
Moraga Way and Moraga Road in Moraga.

I was able to get a photo through my binoculars of
these two goldeneyes before they took off together and
    headed south.

This little pond has turned up interesting ducks in
the past. Of course, it's got to be one of the best
spots I know of for viewing concentrated numbers of
Ring-necked Duck up close. (Park near the pond - stay
    in your car).

Also in Moraga, at Valle Vista Staging Area, there was
a bobcat on the bridge, a Peregrine Falcon on the snag
on the ridge, and a distant Mute Swan (not a Tundra
Swan) on Upper San Leandro Res. Varied Thrush, Winter
Wren, and Golden-crowned Kinglets were here, too, plus
a Golden-crowned Sparrow with a pure white horizontal
    making on the nape.

    All the Best Birding,
    Denise Wight
