    Hi all:

3 small Canada-esque geese were feeding on the lawn
across from the Visitor's center at Lake Merritt this
    afternoon.
One was a Cackling Goose, clearly, with dark breast
and flanks and a hint of a neck ring. The other two
looked to be Richardson's, with much lighter breast
    and flanks. Interesting comparison.

Many Barrow's and Common Goldeneye(s) both male and
female and some juveniles. Interesting head bobbing
action at dusk with one group. I think they were
talking about the Leonid meteor shower, but I've been
    wrong about these things before.

No sign of the Tufted Duck, nor the Wood Duck. But a
    lovely afternoon all the same.

    Good birding,
