Today I hiked the King Canyon Loop Trail on EBMUD property from the Valle
Vista Staging Area in Moraga. Of particular interest were a half dozen Snow
Geese, five American White Pelicans and what I am quite certain was a single
Mute Swan--all on the reservoir. I saw the Swan from a distance but the
orange bill and graceful curved neck were distinctive. I'm curious if the Swan
is a regular at this reservoir as I do not hike the area often. Other species
    sighted during the hike were:

    Western Bluebird
    Bufflehead
    Coot
    Double-crested Cormorant
    Common Raven
    Canada Goose
    Mallard
    Wood Duck
    Ruddy Duck
    Great Egret
    American Kestrel
    Coopers Hawk
    Red-tail Hawk
    Turkey Vulture
    Northern Flicker
    Acorn Woodpecker
    Nuttall's Woodpecker
    Chestnut-backed Chickadee
    Oak Titmouse
    Yellow-rumped Warbler
    Townsend's Warbler
    Lesser Goldfinch
    Ruby-crowned Kinglet
    Wrentit
    Black-capped Junco
    Song Sparrow
    Golden-crowned Sparrow
    Hermit Thrush
    Spotted Towhee
    Greater Yellowlegs
    Scrub Jay
    European Starling

All in all, a very nice hike.
