This morning I had the male TUFTED DUCK in the NE arm of Lake Merritt in =
Oakland. I observed the bird from about 9:15-9:45 am as it was sleeping =
and (finally) actively swimming. Look for the dark back. This =
particular bird is slightly smudged with brown on the flanks. It was =
best observed from the NW shore of the NE arm of the lake, off of Grand =
    Avenue.

Also had 5 AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS in low flight and 4 BLACK-CROWNED =
NIGHT-HERONS in various locations around the lake.

    Good birding!
