    27 May 2005

The pair of Hooded Orioles were foraging actively in the Mediterranean and
Australia-N.Z. sections of the UC Botanical Garden in Berkeley.

    Other birds seen:
    Red-tailed Hawk
    Selasphorus Hummingbirds
    Anna's Hummingbird
    Red-shafted Flicker
    Steller's Jays
    Western Scrub Jays
    American Crow
    (Common Raven heard)
    Chestnut-backed Chickadees
    Bushtits
    American Robins
    Spotted Towhees (many, singing vigorously)
    California Towhees
    Song Sparrows
    Dark-eyed Juncos
    Purple Finch
    House Finch
    Goldfinch sp.

A Garden employee said that a Grosbeak (I assume black-headed) has been
singing along the east edge of the California section several days this week.

Coming up through the UC Berkeley campus we saw a Black Phoebe in juvenal
    plumage.
