While watching the lopsided victory by the A's today at the Coliseum I
was also witness to nature in action above high above the stadium.
Early in the game a red tailed hawk swooped over the diamond vision
above the left field side of the stadium and caught a pigeon, flying
to a platform high up on a light standard on the west side of the
stadium. Truly amazing. It took most of the game for the hawk to
enjoy its stadium "snack". Late in the game it took off to join a
large group of gulls that had found a good updraft and it drifted away
circling high above the action on the field. I find that sometimes my
binoculars come in handy for more than checking on who is warming up
    in the bullpen.

On a separate note, 2 days ago a FOS hermit thrush crashed into our
picture windows. Unfortunately, it did not survive but I'm hoping
there will be others to follow that do not mistake our windows for a
throughway. I do have decals on the windows but they are not always a
    deterrent.
