A month or so ago my wife and I got to watch another service provided by  
our avian partners: At Knox-Miller park just through the tunnel, an egret 
doing  patiently what we seem to not be able to anything about save complain 
and whine:  De-populating gophers from the groomed picnic lawns. We tipped our 
collective  hats, knowing in our hearts that maybe some one might be saved 
of a  twisted, sprained or even possibly broken ankle( having personally 
experienced  injury due to same) because of the hard work of this magnificent 
creature!
