Late this morning we made a visit to Contra Loma Regional Park in
Antioch, arriving just after 11:00. We were delighted with the
    following sightings:

At the entrance sign where we had previously observed adult Burrowing
Owls perching on top, we saw four owlets standing/peering out of the
burrow that is located just below the sign. We waited patiently and
soon an adult flew in, but appeared to be very cautious about joining
the owlets and kept looking into the sky. We were observing from
inside our car and could not determine what may have troubled the adult.

When we entered the park we walked to the tree with the Cooper's Hawk
nest and observed two young in the nest. The female was perched in
an adjoining tree. Awhile later we heard calling and watched the
adult male bring prey to the female which had moved to another tree.
After she ate, she took the remainder of the prey to the nest and we
watched as she fed the babies.

We visited the Killdeer nest that we last observed on May 28 with the
Jack London Elementary School fifth graders. The nest was now
abandoned, but fragments of egg shells were there. Hope they all
    survived.

At the Barn Owl nest box, we observed an adult, and we believe that
the owlets were deeper in the box.

And we saw a Wild Turkey, our first at Contra Loma R. P. which
brought our species total to 104 for the park.

    Good Birding,
