My wife and I were down at Garin Sunday afternoon, hoping to see the rose breasted grossbeak (though Sunday afternoon in the picnic area isn't exactly the smartest time to search), which we didn't. We did see lazuli buntings, western bluebirds, Bullock's orioles and others up the trail that parallels the stream.
One interesting sight was a redtail circling around with a rather large snake hanging from its talons. 10 or 15 minutes after our first sighting it was still up there, still with snake. It seemed a bit strange for the bird to keep flying with its prey that long.
Another redtail was harrassed by a pair of very vociferous kestrels.
Cheers,
