Today I took a leisurely walk up Donner Canyon and down Back Canyon, taking
maybe 5 hours. Went up the Hetherington Loop Trail, then upore before
heading down. Nashville Warblers were along Hetherington Loop, as well as
Black-headed Grosbeaks. Above Middle Trail and going up Meridian Ridge the
California Thrashers were singing. Lots of hummers along the way including
one Calliope up Meridian Ridge and a Rufous way down Back Creek Trail.
Orange-crowned Warblers sang from several areas. Many Audubon's and Myrtle
Warblers were at the lower elevations in the oaks. Just before returning to
Regency Drive, an Ash-throated Flycatcher sang from a snag to my right.

Flowers were pretty good all over. Several other hikers were impressed with
the Wind Poppies in Back Canyon.
