Today the regular 4th-Wednesday Golden Gate Audubon walk encountered a
first for the trip: A pair of Wild Turkeys. The birds were strolling
along near the park workers' equipment yard (across Bellevue from the
nature center), perfectly composed and at home. A month or so ago I
heard someone report having seen one on the lawn across the other end of
Bellevue, near Children's Fairyland - but these were the first I've seen
    there.

We also picked up the Ring-necked Duck and the "mystery aythya" - now
settled at least in my mind as a female Redhead - near the nature
center, and the intrepid survivors at the end of the walk saw the young
male Tufted Duck by the fountain at the Embarcadero. We stood and
studied the birds for a long time, then it was suddenly there in the
middle of a flock of 15 or so scaup and a coupla Common Goldeneyes, beak
firmly tucked in, but recognizable by the black back, white wing panels,
and wispy little new tuft blowing in the wind.
