This afternoon, Eddie Bartley, Noreen Weeden and I were at Frank's Dump at
    Hayward Shoreline. Notable were:

    SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER - 1
SNOWY PLOVER - 2, one with a very small downy chick (first spotted by
    Noreen)
WILSON's PHALAROPE - 8+ (one juvenile plumage, others basic)
    RED-NECKED PHALAROPE - 2
    LEAST TERN -- 26

I haven't been paying close attention to this listserv for a while, so am
not aware if the nesting Snowy Plover is news. The numbers of birds at high
tide were impressive, with swirling flocks lifting off when a peregrine or
other raptor appeared. We were photographing, so didn't get a complete list
of species, but among those present were

    Black-bellied Plover in alternate plumage
    Semipalmated Plover
    Killdeer
    Black-necked Stilt
    American Avocet
    Willet
    Long-billed Curlew
    Marbled Godwit
    Red Knot
    Western Sandpiper
    Dunlin - 1 or 2
    Short-billed Dowitcher
    Long-billed Dowitcher
    Caspian Tern
    Forster's Tern
