A Mute Swan has been using the Pleasanton Detention pond located off of
    Valley Ave (south) .
Phil and Pat Gordon noticed the Swan Sunday, I noticed it Monday and
    Tuesday also.
Phil Gordon indicated there is a wild population of Mute Swans near Port
    Chicago.
Any feed back on the current status of the Contra Costa (wild) Mute Swan
    population?
Wild vs escaped Swan makes no real difference to me.
    It a beautiful bird.
It is a proud looking bird with it's neck cocked back as it swims around.
Directions: Highway 680 to Bernal exit turn right on to Valley Ave South (
    at Shell gas station ).
Drive about quarter mile to dead-end bear right toward HY 680, pond will on
    your right side.
Birding is good here during a March Ohlone Audubon trip we logged 45
    species in the area.
There many swallow's and swifts in the area.
Recent sighting yard birds this morning there is a Swainson Thrush in the
    yard.
A Golden Eagle and 15 + Cliff Swallows above my home on Monday 5:30 PM.
Copper's Hawks appear to have a nest site in Pleasanton Aquatic Park.

It is more fun to arrive at a conclusion than to justify it
