Steve & I walked down the Richmond shoreline trail this morning (Mon, Jan
    1) to see what the high tide pushed up, concentrating on Meeker
Slough. There was a lot of activity, especially Common Yellowthroats,
Marsh Wrens, and a variety of sparrows. We ran into Nel & Nick, who
previously reported, but we saw some different birds, so I thought it was
    worth reporting anyway.

    Best birds were:

CACKLING GEESE (5) - with Canadas just south of Slough near Field Station road
    SORA
    CLAPPER RAILS (4)
    WILSON'S SNIPE (several)
    PEREGRINE FALCON (juvenile)
BURROWING OWLS (2) - south of Slough & Field Station road, near the black
    plastic "fence"

    Runners-up included:

    Spotted Sandpiper
    American Pipit
    Lincoln's Sparrows (2)

Also, the Fox Sparrows along the trail alongside the slough included a RED
    (TAIGA) FORM FOX SPARROW.

    Good birding,
