This morning about 10 AM, I made a quick trip to Don Edwards. In the first pond on the right after passing through the entrance gate was a first year Stilt Sandpiper along with a multitude of stilts, avocets, and dowitchers. I spotted it because it's feeding behaviour was so different from the surrounding dowitchers: it walked along slowly, leaning forward, looking around, occasionally drilling its bill forward and down a few times. It was also brownish and strongly patterned rather than the muted greys of the dowitchers. It had a long, noticeably decurved bill, a long neck like a yellowlegs but was chunkier.
