Today at the shoreline -
GRAY CATBIRD - 1 in the vegetation around the parking lot at Winton Ave. Found at 4:15 PM. Also seen by Phil Gordon and John Luther. Possibily seen by Peter Dramer. Only seen once by each person. It was 3 hours after I found it, that John saw it. It is limited to within 25 feet of where I first saw it. It is north of the road to the parking lot, but south of the channel. Most of the time, it was seen in an area of very dense Coyote Brush, but was also seen near some Myaporum (introduced shrub) and a brush pile. To reach this area, go towards the parking lot, after you pass the first Eucalyptus tree and Monterrey Pine on the north side of the road, find an opening in the Myaporum to reach the dense Coyote Brush. This is the first Alameda County record, at least that I know about.
