Today a small group of birders, including Karen Grillo, Laura and Mel Gee,
Hugh Harvey, Eugenia Larson, Terry Wills and a couple of others got many
very good lucks at the YB Sapsucker at about 12 Noon. It was seen in the
large willow tree and in a bare tree across the creek with turquoise (?)
wind chimes in a resident's backyard. Not seen in the almond tree today
between ~11:30am-12 Noon. It was a very good day to be out looking, the sun
was shining with a few clouds and a slight breeze.
There was a very active flock of cedar waxwings flying back and forth across
the creek to some pines between the willow and the almond tree and back
again to a large leafless tree. Also seen were black phoebes, green herons,
flicker, YR warbler, Canada geese, mallards, coots and a pair of red-tailed
hawks "playing" overhead. Didn't really do much other birding after we
found the YB Sapsucker. Also didn't look for the WT Sparrow.
