    I, too, have a pair of Bewicks's Wrens in my small backyard. I hear
    their lovely song often during the day. The surprising thing to me
    is that they have been everyday customers at our mixed-nut feeder for
    at least a couple of years, and I have seen them occasionally at the
    thistle feeder. We have also had a leucistic Bewick's Wren that
    shows up here once in awhile.

    I quote here from "The Birds of North America Online." Our nut
    feeder most likely would be considered under vegetable matter of
    which less than 3% comprises the Bewick Wren's typical diet:

    DIET
    On basis of analyses of 146 stomachs taken in all months in
    California, major components of adult diet include: bugs (Hemiptera;
    31%), beetles (Coleoptera; 21%), bees and wasps (Hymenoptera; 17%),
    caterpillars and some butterflies and moths (Lepidoptera; 12%),
    grasshoppers and crickets (Orthoptera; 4%), flies (Diptera) and other
    insects (6%), spiders (Araneida; <5%), and vegetable matter (fruit
    pulp, seeds, plant rubbish, <3%; Beal 1907). Largest quantity of
    vegetable matter was eaten in Dec and Jan (Beal 1907).
