Larry Jacobs and I have been scurrying around looking for red phalaropes.  They always seem to elude us.
   
  We finally found a single phalarope this afternoon (Jan. 7) by the dam at Lafayette Reservoir.  It was also my 500th ABA area bird.  A memorable sighting!
