The B&W Warbler was spotted again today at Lake Merritt, near Perkins =
and Bellevue Ave, at 1:30 PM, right after a rain shower. I initially =
looked for it around 11:30 with 2 other birders from Antioch, and though =
we saw many other birds, the warbler was not around. After taking a =
drive around the lake to see if the red phalaropes were there (they =
weren't), the rain cleared. I decided to go back for one last go at the =
warbler while the weather was nice.

It was located right across Bellevue from the Rotary Nature Center, in =
the deciduous trees. The bird fluttered from the ground to the truck of =
the tree, and worked it's way up like a nuthatch, then continued working =
the branches above. It was very cooperative for about 15 minutes, =
affording a wonderful look at a beautiful bird. Unfortunately, everyone =
    else had left. =20

Other highlights of the day were a Red-Breasted Sapsucker, Townsend's =
Warblers, Barrow's and Common Goldeneyes, Common Mergansers, and an =
indignant Western Gull chasing a coot off of a clam shell.
