Today is the first day that Brushy Peak ( 1750 FT elevation) East Bay
Regional Park being open to the public.
The park is locate off of HY580 on to North front rd. left on to
Laughlin Rd. past Old Frick Lake.
There are several EBRP brown signage along the way so it should be easy
enough to find.
I arrive at 8 AM the official festival had not started.
I walked the main trail out of the parking lot it is "The Brushy Peak
Trail."
It took an hour to reach the trails end, soon this trail will loop
around back into the parking lot.
It is an interesting trail for birding.
Out of the parking lot is a wide spring time wet land which is fed from
a spring which is seen at the high end of the trail.
This spring water flows into Arroyo da las Positas, then into Arroyo
Mocho and on into Alameda Creek down Nile's Canyon into SF Bay.
The first quarter mile birds:
Red Wing BB
Tricolor BB ( many along the trail )
Brewer BB
Ravens
Meadow Larks
Killdeer
Kestrel with a mouse
White Crown Sp.
Beginning at a dry man made mitigation pond.
American Pipits -12
Say's Phoebe
You'll reach a riparian habit of Willows and Cotton woods ( impacted by
cattle now fenced out of the park) and a stock pond.
Anna's Humming birds - several
