Today Bingham Gibbs (from Danville) and I went to Mitchell Canyon and =
ran into Hugh Harvey (from Walnut Creek) and Larry Petri (from Vallejo). =
So, we joined forces and birded from 8:00 until 1:00.
We saw a lot of good birds but not all the ones that have been reported.
We saw the BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER; WILSON'S; YELLOW-RUMPED; =
NASHVILLE AND ORANGE-CROWNED. We did not see any Hermits or Townsends.
We saw about 3 LAZULI BUNTINGS; several WESTERN TANANGERS and =
BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS.
We saw WARBLING VIREOS AND HUTTON'S. Also, PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHERS; =
ASH-THROATED AND OLIVE-SIDED. We did not see any Hammonds or Western
Wood- Pewees.
We had a great fly-over of a GOLDEN EAGLE and another fly-over of a =
group of VAUX SWIFTS.
We had RUFOUS, ALLENS, ANNA'S and CALIOPE HUMMINGBIRDS. The Caliope =
was in the usual corner up Red Road.
A single PURPLE FINCH sang at the top of a tree and last but not least a =
single female BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was seen.
