[EBB Sightings] Continuing Swamp Sparrow (Livermore-Springtown, Alameda County)

Birders:

The swamp sparrow continues in the Springtown District of Livermore in
Alameda County.  Picked out the bird about 150 yards downstream from the
bridge at the base of the fence along the south side of the creek.

Watched the bird several times over the next hour or so on both sides of the
trail along the south side of the creek with the help of Art Edwards, Dennis
Rash�, Steve Huckabone, and Bob Dunn.

We also saw both the Sora and Virginia Rail at the west end of the path
along the south side of the creek.

To reach this area:

exit First St./Springtown Blvd. from I-580.  This is exit #54.  Head north
(right) on Springtown Blvd.  There is a Motel 6 right away on the left.
Drive exactly 1 mile to Rhododendron Drive and make a right here and park
somewhere.  There are no parking signs along Springtown Blvd.  Then cross
Springtown Blvd. and walk a very short distance north to the bridge.  Enter
the path here at the south end of the creek.  Walk about 150 yards and start
looking for the Swamp Sparrow.  Look for the two reflector posts on both
sides of the trail and the small repaved section of asphalt in the path.
This is the area where Art Edwards and George Bing had found the Swamp
Sparrow on 11/13/2004, and this is the same area we saw the Swamp Sparrow
this morning.
