Hi all,
I hope this is an appropriate post for this forum. If not then I apologize.
As part of the fundraising efforts to publish the Contra Costa Breeding Bird
Atlas, I am leading a group of birders to the Salton Sea/ Colorado River area
from Thurs, Dec. 30th through Sunday, Jan. 2nd. The cost of the trip is a
simple $100 donation. Participants will pay for hotels (not expensive down
there!), food, gas, etc.
I have visited the Salton Sea area each January for the past 8 or 9 years and
have managed to see such great birds as Reddish Egret, Zone-tailed Hawk,
Ruff, Ruddy Ground-Dove, Greater Pewee, Sprague's Pipit, Black-throated Blue
Warbler, and Painted Redstart. Expected winter specialties include numerous
waterfowl and raptors, Mountain Plover, Stilt Sandpiper, Yellow-footed Gull,
Vermillion Flycatcher and longspurs. We could expect to see nearly 150 species with
any luck.
We currently have 6 and possibly 7 participants signed up and would like to
have 12 or so.
If anyone is interested, please email me privately for further details.
Good birding,
Steve Glover
