East Bay Birders:
The Pectoral Sandpiper that Art Edwards found and reported yesterday
(10-7-2004) along Altamont Creek where is crosses Bluebell Drive in the
Springtown Section of Livermore continues this morning. At 8:45 AM it was
among the Long-billed Dowitchers, Least Sandpipers, and Black-necked Stilts
in the creek just east of the bridge. Later the flock moved to the west
side of the bridge where the Pectoral Sandpiper was still there when I left
at 9:15 AM.
Art Edwards' directions will take you directly to the location. I might add
that the First Street Exit from I-580 is Exit 54. Take the north-bound
exit. Where First Street branches into Springtown Bl. and Bluebell Drive
there is a Motel 6 on the left and a Livermore Inn on the right. From the
start of Bluebell Drive to Altamont Creek just north of Scenic Drive, the
distance is 1.2 miles.
