We have had one red-breasted grosbeak visit our backyard about 8-9:00
a.m. each morning for the past 6-8 weeks. Beautiful bird. We live in
north Berkeley - near Hillside School (Cedar/LeRoy.)

morning at about 8 am, my wife Adele and I saw a male Rose-breasted
Grosbeakin
Robertson Park in Livermore, in the tall Eucalyptus trees just south of
the horseshoecourt, on the
mail park road 1/4 mile east of Arroyo Road, just south of College Avenue. This
is my first Rose-breasted Grosbeak
in Livermore in 33 years of birding. It
was feeding on Lerp Psyllids (sp?), along with a number of Yellow Warblers
andWestern Tanagers.
After a few minutes, it left, and we could not find it again in the nexthour.
There are dozens of Red-gum Eucalyptus trees with Lerps, attracting
manyvireos, warblers and
tanagers, and the willows along the creek have Pacific-slope andWillow
Flycatchers. An Olive-sided Flycatcher was there last Wednesday. To
reach Robertson Park from Highway 580, take the Portola Exit to N. L St.,
andfollow it south past
College, where it becomes Arroyo Road, then turn left just over thebridge.
Or, from the east, take Vasco south to Tesla, west to Concannon, left toRobertson
Park Drive, right past the stadium to the horseshoe court. Good
birding, Art Edwards
