    EastBayBirders,

In the hour before high tide (the best time to go) we had 24 species at
Frank's Dump today. Shorebirds included SNOWY PLOVER (a scattered handful),
RED KNOT (thousands), RUDDY TURNSTONE, BLACK TURNSTONE, SANDERLING,
SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, WILLET, LEAST SANDPIPER, LONG-BILLED CURLEW,
BLACK-NECKED STILT, BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, WESTERN SANDPIPER, AMERICAN
AVOCET, DOWITCHER, and MARBLED GODWIT. The Surfbirds I saw two weeks ago
were missing or lost in the crowd. The Red Knots are mostly in basic
plumage, though a few still retain a wash of rufous on breast and belly.

When most of the shorebirds took to the air I figured that the PEREGRINE
FALCON that hangs out in the second power tower north of Frank's Dump was
looking for lunch, but it remained on its lofty perch. The culprit was a
bumbling BROWN PELICAN making its way clumsily through the middle of the
    assembled masses.

Pat added 2 year birds, but Skip really scored with a whopping 17 lifers!
