Larry,

Last year I contacted you about the white-tailed kites that were nesting in the Acacia tree behind my house. Well, they have arrived again (have been here 2 weeks already) and are doing their thing again. Part of the tree has been removed and the person who removed the branches said that the tree should really be torn down. I hope that people will come out and view the kites and the tree, just in case something needs to be done in the future to save the tree and the nesting site.

The nesting area this year can best be viewed from Virginia Street, between Fourth and Fifth, in Berkeley. Look north to the at the top of the Acacia. You should hear a lot of kite chatter and if you're lucky see these beautiful birds fetching nest material and/or mice for breakfast and dinner.
