Me and Eric Pilotte decided to try some night birding on Mines Rd.
today. Wind and cold temperatures might have made the night birding
    difficult.

    We had:
1 Western Screech owl (approx MP 5.0)
    4 Great-horned owls

We then birded the road until 12:00 pm, our highlights included:
    3 Phainopeplas
    3 Cliff Swallows
    2 Rough-winged swallows
    5 California Thrashers
1 Chipping Sparrow (in an orchard about 3 miles down from Tesla Rd)
1 Bobcat (stalking a Quail but stopped once it saw us and proceed to
preen itself for another 10 mins)

Finally we decided to head over the Patterson Pass and do some birding
in the extreme eastern section of Alameda county. Highlights
    included:
1 Light-morph Rough-legged Hawk (Siting on one of the wind turbines on
    Midway Rd.)
2 Eurasian Collard doves at the first homes you hit on Midway Rd. from
    Patterson Pass Rd.
3 Swainson's Hawks ( 2 were in Alameda County, near the intersection
of Mountain House Rd. and Byron Rd.)

    Good birding,
