The speaker for the March meeting of Mount Diablo Audubon Society will be
telling to us about the continuing search for evidence of the Ivory-billed
Woodpecker. This bird, long thought to be extinct, was proclaimed to be
    re-found in 2004.

John Schaust, the Chief Naturalist for Wild Birds Unlimited, is coming from
his home in Indiana to speak at our regular Chapter meeting on Thursday
March 4. He has worked with others attempting to corroborate this
discovery. His presentation will help to answer some of the many questions
raised since the announcement six years ago. The life and history of the
Ivory-billed Woodpecker will include images, as well as a review of the
efforts to verify the continued existence of this species.

Monthly meetings of MDAS are held in the Camellia Room of The Gardens at
Heather Farm, 1540 Marchbanks Drive, Walnut Creek. Doors open at 6:30 PM,
the meeting will start at 7 PM and the main speaker will start at 7:30 PM.
A small donation will be accepted to help defray the speaker's
    transportation costs.
