Today I hiked the Brushy Peak Trail in the wind, cold and fog of the
Livermore Valley. I observed and noted a few species of possible interest: a
single solitary Lesser Yellowlegs poking around in an old cattle pond (I
have 1 picture before the camera battery went dead), a male Loggerhead
Shrike sitting on a power line, several flocks of Western Meadowlarks, a
large mixed flock of sparrows (noted for example White-crowned and
Golden-crowned), and 3 American Kestrals, each patrolling its own territory.
