About 4:15 pm today, while walking in the Park Hills neighborhood of
Berkeley (about 1000 feet from Lake Anza, on Woodside between Park Hills and
Crescent), we saw an Osprey fly over with a fish in its talons. That
location is roughly 3 miles from SF Bay, 2 miles from the San Pablo and
    Briones Reservoirs. Hmmm...

In the same neighborhood (a yard near Latham Lane and Overlook) a Fox
Sparrow was in twiggy undergrowth with a small flock of Golden-Crowned
Sparrows. The bird looked like Sibley's "Sooty (Pacific) -- Paler Adult" --
medium brown head and back, slightly rustier tail, spotting on breast seemed
    diffuse (maybe just fluffed up).

    Two last holiday treats...
