VInnie Bacon and I went out at 9:00 AM this morning to look for Andy
Pedlar's FERRUGINOUS HAWK in the fields behind the Pacific Commons
industrial park off Bunche Drive. We didn't see it at first, so
explored the remediation marsh off the Pacific Commons Linear Park
path, accessed from the far south end of the industrial park lot. We
flushed an AMERICAN BITTERN from the reeds directly behind the first
pond, and found 3 BLUE-WINGED TEAL in the second pond.

On our way back we met three other birders looking for the
FERRUGINOUS HAWK, and one of them, Ken Schneider (hope I got that
right, Ken!), spotted it as it flew in to its perch on a white sign
directly back from the south west corner of the parking lot, about
2/3rds of the way to the railroad tracks. We all got a good look at
the hawk and VInnie got some photos of the FERRUGINOUS HAWK and BLUE-
WINGED TEAL. I'll post a link to the photos once Vinnie has them on-
    line.

WIshing you a happy and birdy New Year,
