    Hi birders,

Today I saw an interesting Golden-crowned Sparrow with aberrant plumage at
the Quarry parking lot at Coyote Hills RP. The bird had large white wing
patches (reminiscent of a Lark Bunting). It also appeared to have white
streaking on the mantle and on the uppertail coverts. Unfortunately, the
bird flushed and I was unable to relocate it once I dug out my camera.

Later, at the Eden Landing Ecological Reserve (ELER) in Union City, I saw
two Lesser Yellowlegs and several Cackling Geese in a large flock of Canada
Geese. Directions to ELER: From Hesperian Blvd. in UC, go west on Eden
Shores Blvd. Continue west through the roundabout and over the overpass.
At the next roundabout, turn right on Sandcreek, and then left on Dune. You
can park on the street or in the parking lot of the community park. One
block north of the park, there is a gated bridge over the channel. The
geese and yellowlegs were in the pond just opposite the bridge.

    Good birding,
    Kathy Robertson
