This morning (Fri, Nov 6) we took a drizzly walk at Pt Pinole
Regional Shoreline. Two PEREGRINE FALCONS were perched on a high
dead snag on the Cook's Pt Trail near where it first hits the
beach. They were the first we've seen at this park.

They appeared to be a male/female pair (based on size). The female
was lunching on what appeared to be a medium-sized shorebird. We
were in the area for about 45 minutes, and she didn't seem interested
in finishing the meal, but flew around a while hanging onto that last
bright-yellow-footed drumstick, perhaps saving it for an afternoon snack.

There was a nice selection of shorebirds at Cook's Pt, but nothing
unusual. A RED-THROATED LOON foraging near the point, however, is
the furthest inland that I've seen this species.

Also of interest was a BROWN CREEPER along the Cook's Pt Trail, only
my 3rd record at the park, all within the last 5 months.

    Good birding,
