    Folks:

Today, 11/25/09, descending Mines Road into Livermore, Iver Brown and
I spotted a PHAINOPEPLA in an oak west of the road near M.P.
7.96. It was strongly backlit, unfortunately, and I'm unsure of the
sex, although the floppy crest was obvious. Once we had pulled off
the road and walked back to the site the bird had disappeared. The
oak had a number of thick mistletoe growths. There appeared to be a
good crop of berries on the mistletoe.
